About KJSR

KJSR.net was started by Steampunk Charlie and Kunoichi Kyo-chan in the summer of 2008. They had been DJing successfully for PoJ Radio, and were looking for a way to continue their show after word came that PoJ was going to shut down. On August 29th, 2008, the first broadcast went out on KJSR.net’s stream. It was a roaring success!

KJSR.net (The Voice of Jello Shooters) is named after the Jello Shooters global channel in NCSoft’s City of Heroes/City of Villains MMORPG*. Jello Shooters provided the initial audience for KJSR.net’s DJs, as well as most of the DJs themselves! Charlie and Kyo wanted to capture the camaraderie and fun atmosphere of the channel in the online radio format, so KJSR.net, the Voice of Jello Shooters, has a mission: online radio for the sake of online radio–for fun, not profit–uncut, uncensored, and unrestrained. Our DJs can play (or not play) whatever they want, and they can say (or not say) whatever they want, too! Our DJs play a wide variety of music from every genre and enjoy interacting with their listeners. Each DJ’s show is unique to the person who created it, and we firmly believe that each and every one of our DJs has the skill to rival any professional.

Within the first year, KJSR.net added a lot of revolutionary new features, unheard of for internet radio stations. Some of them, like the live VOIP Hotline, ended up flopping, but others ended up a big hit!

DJ JohnnyFever is our AutoDJ, who plays a mixture of music from the Archive at all times when a live DJ isn’t on. There are those who have sworn that they couldn’t tell Johnny wasn’t human, but he’s actually a bit of code that Charlie wrote and built upon! Originally, Johnny’s only task was to play music, but over time, he has gained the ability to talk, to take requests, to cover for sick DJs, and to gather and post the statistics for the DJs every week.

We’ve also added the Request Line so that DJs can take requests and the Call-In line for DJs to host contests and get feedback from listeners while on the air. We’ve started to allow listeners to schedule DJs to cover their events in City of Heroes/City of Villains*, on all servers. We have games such as Legend of the Green Dragon to bring our listeners together, and easier games, such as a memory game where you have to match the DJs up. There’s also our Live Chat, where you can chat with many of the DJs during their shows (and Johnny all the time!) We also added the KJSR.net Merchandise page, our online store, from which all profit goes to running the station.

We here at KJSR.net are also proud to say that we have achieved something that no other internet radio station has been able to. In our first year, we skyrocketed to the top 50 on the Shoutcast* listing of internet radio stations. That’s the top 50 out of 250,000+ other internet radio stations. We couldn’t have done it without our DJs, and we couldn’t have done it without you, the listeners!

KJSR.net plans to keep on getting bigger and better! We’ve expanded our schedule of live DJs, formerly from 5 pm EST to 1 am EST to 24/7, so we can now bring you more fantastic live shows than ever before!

Remember, stay tuned to KJSR.net, the Voice of Jello Shooters–and your voice too!
