The Book Club – 4/29/10 – Apologies

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Sorry listeners… I honestly apologize about missing today’s show, and I don’t even have a good reason. But I’ve come to a realization… due to the fact that I’ve missed to numerous shows for various reasons, next week will be the last Book Club for the foreseeable future. I’m going to finish off the last of my Sherlock Holmes stories and then take the Book Club on hiatus until such a time I can find I can commit to the show more fully. I’ll still be on the air for The Happy Hour on Friday night, but I’m going to close the Book Club until things settle down again and I can find a more suitable time for it.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 4/22/20 – Cancelled

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Well if you’ve read Johnny’s daily message, you know that I’m going to be on a short hiatus. Apparently all those computer troubles I had at the beginning of last month weren’t fixed, but laying dormant for the best time to completely ruin my system. So while I wait on replacement parts, I hope you don’t mind if Johnny takes my steed for a bit.

When I do return, I’ve got one final session of Sherlock Holmes before I move onto a new series. No voting this time, as I’m going to be playing one of my choices and bringing out “Starship Troopers” by Robert A. Heinlen. So until then, be sure to keep tuning in to all the rest of the DJ’s and I’ll see you soon.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 4/8/10

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Well Thursdays back again, and its time for another Book Club and some more Sherlock Holmes. Looking back over my list of stories just last night it occurred to me that I never did play the selection I had intended to when I first returned from vacation. Chalking it up to the universe plotting against me, I’ll play catch up today. So first off we’ll head off on the tale of “The Man With the Twisted Lip”, and then join in as Holmes solves the case of “The Red-Headed League”. So join me today at 1pm as we delve into more Sherlock Holmes, and another intermission from H20 – Solitudes.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 4/1/10

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Well with our April Fool’s Day joke blown, I suppose I’ll return to our regularly scheduled Sherlock Holmes. Today, we have Sherlock Holmes solving the mystery of “The Five Orange Pips”, then shortly after going on “The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor”. The intermission will be a selection of nature music from the album “Solitudes – H2O” that i picked up recently. I hope you will enjoy today’s show here at 1pm.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 3/25/10

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Well this month has had it in for me since the start it seems, what was only suppose to be a one week vacation from the show is now unfortunately turning into a month. That’s right gang, bad news is that I won’t be around again tomorrow, as work has had me staying late this week. While I enjoy the overtime, I miss doing this show. I’m going to try and make it up to you all, but we’ll see how next month finds us first. See you all then.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 3/18/10

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Ah… hopefully the troubles of last week are behind me and I can return once more the the Book Club. Today we return to the stories of Sherlock Holmes with two more adventures. First we join Holmes as he unravels the mystery of “The Man with the Twisted Lip”. Then after a short intermission featuring Matchbox 20, we meet up with Holmes and Watson again as they take on “The Red-Headed League”. So tune in today at 1pm for these great stories.

Edit: Well apparently the world is against me doing the show this month… not 3o mins after making this post and I was hit by a virus that implanted a malware unto my computer.  So I’m trying to battle that, and everything else that seems to want to stop me from doing the show.  If I can get it solved within the next few minutes, I’ll do my best to continue on with the show today.  So keep your fingers crossed.

Edit: Well no dice listeners. The issues seem to be more than just the virus, potentially looking at some internal PC issues as well. I apologize for having to cancel my show again, and I’ll do my absolute best to get things working for my show tomorrow, and for the Book Club next week.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas: 3/11/10

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Sorry gang… while I’m back from vacation and wanting to get some Sherlock Holmes on the air, I seem to be having some computer issues and I can’t access my audiobook archives. So I’m going to turn it over for Johnny to pick an old episode of the Book Club to air in my steed and I’ll do what I can to get back on the air as soon as possible.

So tune in today at 1pm as I bring you these two great stories, as well as an intermission of Gustav Holt’s “Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity”.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 2/18/2010

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

We return again to Thursday, and we’ll pick up where we left off last week with more of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Since we didn’t get to it last week, we’ll start with “The Adventures of the Crooked Man” and then continue with “The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet”. The intermission will also be taken from last week, with the Glen Miller Orchestra performing “In the Mood” and “Moonlight Serenade”. So tune in today at 1pm for another Book Club.

The Book Club w/ DJ Mionas – 2/11/10 – The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Thursday brings us back around to a new set of stories here on the Book Club. This week we begin in on The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which is not so much a single book, but a collection of various Sherlock Holmes stories I’ve collected audio-recordings of. Today’s stories are “A Scandal in Bohemia”, where Holmes encounters the one he refers to as ‘the Woman’. Then we join Holmes as he investigates the death of Colonel Barkley in “The Adventure of the Crooked Man”. For an intermission, I present to you the Glen Miller Orchestra with “In The Mood” and “Moonlight Serenade”. So tune in today at 1pm, and join me for another Book Club.

Edit: Sorry gang… apparently I had some network issues that prevented me from starting on time… so Instead we’ll only play “A Scandal in Bohemia” instead.
